Did you know that children in Haiti have the highest death and disease rate of any children in our hemisphere? Many die during their first year of life. These children die from cholera, typhoid, and chronic diarrhea, all of which are all waterborne diseases.

With clean water these children would live.

They could go on to lead a life that would change the world... not any different from our founder, Mickelson Civil. Born in Haiti, he remembers all to well what it is like to fight for his life. These children deserve a chance. This is why VIE Water exists - to give life.

Hope for Haiti Now telethon

January 25, 2010 – Mickelson Civil, Founder, VIE Water, rejoiced after reaching viewers worldwide on Friday’s “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon which was broadcasted from New York, London, Haiti, and Los Angeles. Helped organized by George Clooney, the telethon has raised more than $57 million to date.

On January 22, 2010, the Associated Press featured Civil in its coverage of “Hope for Haiti Now”: “Mickelson Civil, a Haitian filmmaker, fought back tears as he talked about relatives who died and those who are barely surviving: ‘The survivors shouldn't have to go hungry or be afraid now,’ he said.
